Tumbling

 The cold snap caressing

Much of the country

Had nothing to do with

The shudders and winces

Tugging at shoulders and faces

Of those watching oil prices

Dropping,

Oh there are no tears

For the boardroom billionaires,

But the young truck driver

With lay-off papers in pocket

Four weeks before Christmas,

Bellered.

The echo foretelling

Dire consequences coming

Should the tumbling continue.
