Could It Be

Could it be

That an individual

Or a group who believes

That their religion or philosophy,

Or their interpretation of things,

Is the only path up the mountain,

Could it be

That they themselves

Have found the shortcut,

Are on the fast track to hell.

O’Day 27

Watching the reflections

Of all of the revelations

Bouncing off the water,

The inclination is

To buy, barter, borrow

A bigger boat

And sail away,

But where to,

There are pirates

From Columbia to Somalia,

Rogue waves, hidden reefs

And dangers and all sorts

Of scary shit,

So for the time being

It’s save your money,

Stick with the O’Day 27,

Dance with the wind on the waves

Up and down Discovery Passage, all the channels

And inlets that millionaires come from

Miles away to play on,

Tack back and forth

Through the reflections

Of revelations bouncing off the water,

Smiling all the way.

So Crazy

With an amazed look

Of utter disbelief

He said,

Let me get this straight,

There are leaders of major countries,

Commanders In Chief

Who believe the world is only

Six-thousand years old,

That Israel will fight

The Moslems in an

Inevitable Armageddon,

Once Israel controls

The Middle East

The Second Coming

Will arrive,

That’s right,

That’s crazy he said,

You’re right,

That’s crazy,

So crazy

No one will believe it.

In A Storm

Perhaps it’s the melancholy

Of a youth that’s past

That blasts as hard as

The storm blowing,

Perhaps knowing

That one day we

All must give up

The mast,

And yet there is

A joy in remembering,

A smile breaking

Watching two

Young lovers

Slip into their cabin,

Seemingly unaware of the

Howling wind and the seagulls

We spoke about politics

And the way things

Are going,

How wealth is piling

Like a snowstorm blowing

At the feet of a few,

We spoke about governments

Their way of controlling,

We spoke about fears

With a sense of knowing

There’s little we can do.

Some days on the dock

You are caught in the crossfires

Of dreams and thoughts

Of those dreaming of

A bigger boat.

Another boat,

Dreams and thoughts

Of heading into blue water,

Coming to terms

With the realization

They have to sell their boat,

Much like those searching

For their other half,

Going and coming

From bed to bed,

Filling the singles

Bars and places with
