Cohen Or Hemingway

So I hear

That you’ve moved

Down to Victoria,

And I thought in that

Famous Blue Raincoat way,

But no

That’s not in the manner

Of Hemingway,

Are you back

On cigars

Or still soloing in booze,

Have you fallen in love

Or just getting screwed

Twits Among Us

So the twits among us

Decided that

It was against the law

To label one with their

Ethnic origin,

We are all just people

No more racism,

No more emblems,

Flags or anthems,

The same with all things,

No reds, whites, pinks

Or blacks, just color,

No more roses, petunias,

Cedars or oaks, just plant,

No more cow, monkey,

Robin or jackass, just animal,

No artistic exploration,

No lyrics, cartoons or comedy,

Our twisted evolution

Goes on and on,

Driven by the twits

Among us.

Third Day Of Summer

On the third day of summer

Some chubby guy stared skyward

As his fat white dog shit on the sidewalk,

They both strolled away,

A lady dragging an oxygen tank,

Hoses up her nose, sat down for coffee,

A friend carrying her things joined her

And immediately lit a cigarette,

Two attractive young women

In a chromed Chevy pickup

Tossed their empty Tim Horton’s

Cups and wrappers onto the street,

A garbage can was ten steps away,

I’m not saying that these people

Are representative of fat white dogs,

Oxygen tanks, Chevy or Tim Horton’s,

But I did read that DNA researchers claim

That Neanderthals bred with Homo Sapiens.

I didn’t do it,

My father didn’t do it,

My mother didn’t do it,

My grandparents never did it,

So why this bullshit guilt trip

You’re trying to lay on me,

Is it just a smoke screen

For what you are doing,

Things that if I did

Would be labelled

Many things.

Digging through the lines

Looking for philosophy,

But it’s simply in the lives

Some live, some love,

All die,

 Picking through the words

Looking for philosophy,

But it’s simply in your life,

Go live, go love,

Before you die.
