Inland Island Highway Signs

A Conservative election

Sign

Near a food bank direction

Sign,

An NDP election

Sign

Next to a house for sale

Sign,

Who places these

Signs?

Or are they an omen,

A sign

Of what might come.

Down

He took the pictures

Down

After she left,

They thought

About each other

Now and again,

They both remembered

The time they went

Down

That holy excursion,

And yet,

They both realized

That time was too short

To go mentally

Down

The road of

Impossibilities.

Myths, Lies And Legends

Are you registered to vote?

Why in the hell would a

Homeless guy register

To Vote!

They pump you full

Of the myths, lies and legends

While you’re growing up,

Scorn you when you

Question the illusions,

When you explore possible truths,

Smugly advise you that politicians lie

And not to be naïve that’s what they do,

So why would a homeless guy

 Register to perpetuate

The myths, lies and legends.

Touch And Go

It’s all touch and go,

From the snows

Of winter,

The greens of spring,

The heat of summer,

The colors of fall

It’s all touch and go,

Some things last

In memory

And who knows

How long that’s for,

But while it lives

You’re there,

Tucked away

With a lotus, a crescent

Moon beam,

The sound of the sea

And the sweet aroma

Of love.

In The Time

In the time

Of early September

With the sun

Peeking through clouds,

Talk hovering

Over the looming

Canadian election,

The wave of refugees

Flooding into Europe,

The endless questions,

What will happen?

What should we do?

In the time

Of early September

With the sun

Peeking through clouds,

Nobody knew,

The questions

Were agonizing

And the answers,

The answers

Weren’t coming,

The answers

Weren’t coming.
