Walking Shadows

Like displaced drones

And wandering wasps

Near winter,

They visit soup kitchens,

Food banks and shelters,

Few engage their faces

Their stares,

It’s easier to see

Unnamed

Walking shadows.

Both Ends

Have you had

One of those days,

You know,

Those days

When you’re wondering

Is it sunspots

Or a phase of the moon

That has things

Going sideways,

Both ends

Of the stick shitty,

People angry and grouchy,

Dogs growling

For no apparent reason,

Cats flashing that spot

At the base of their tails.

At All Levels

So this gal

Comes into the shop

And when she leaves

The sugar bowl is gone,

You say what the hell!

Upon reflection you realize,

Some people rob banks,

Some steal sugar bowls,

And some in three-piece suits

Screw you out of the commission

On a million and s half dollar yacht sale,

There’s assholes at all levels.
